U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton on Wednesday blocked certain provisions in the Arizona illegal immigration law SB 1070. This ruling will put on hold the state’s attempt to have local police enforce federal immigration policy.

Click here to read the ruling.

“It’s a temporary bump in the road, we will move forward, and I’m sure that after consultation with our counsel we will appeal… the bottom line is we’ve known all along that it is the responsibility of the feds and they haven’t done their job so we were going to help them do that.” -Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer told the Associated Press

One of the main provisions blocked is the section of law that makes it a crime not to carry immigration registration papers and the provision that makes it a crime for an illegal immigrant to seek or perform work.

“Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked,” Judge Bolton, a Clinton appointee.

So wait, let me get this straight… It’s illegal to make it illegal to let illegal immigrants work? So that effectively makes undocumented workers, legal workers? What? What’s the point of citizenship? Are we drinking Kool-Aid?!

In other news, incidentally Barack Obama will be appearing on The View tomorrow.
