Is it true?? YES. Almost 3/4 of oil from the BP spill is gone from the Gulf of Mexico, with 26 percent remaining as a sheen or tarballs, buried in sediment or washed ashore, U.S. scientists said on Wednesday.

“It is estimated that burning, skimming and direct recovery from the wellhead removed one quarter (25 percent) of the oil released from the wellhead,” -BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Budget: What Happened to the Oil? Scientist

Where’s the oil?

  • 25% eliminated by burning and skimming
  • 24% was dispersed, either naturally or “as the result of operations,” into small droplets, the report said.
  • 5% naturally evaporated or dissolved

The rest of the estimated 4.9 million barrels of crude spilled into the Gulf after the April 20 rig explosion.

Well can we still eat the shrimp from the gulf? Don’t know, but always remember what Bubba said:

“…shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it.” -Bubba

Let’s hope shrimp from the gulf will always be the fruit of the sea, because life without shrimp kabobs would be un-comically boring.
